The Los Angeles City Council declared May 25, 2007 as Star Wars Day, in honor of the May 25, 1977 release date of the first Star Wars movie. May 25th is also known as Geek Pride Day and Towel Day (Douglas Adams, Hitch Hikers Guide To The Galaxy).
